ROADMASTER was unquestionably one of the pillars in the Pomp AOR movement, and fortunately Rock Candy Records has remastered their more essential albums. All really good, being this “Hey World” a transition from the Pomp of the band’s origins to the upcoming melodic hard rock of the ’80s.
Hey World, an Album by Roadmaster. Released in 1979 on Mercury (catalog no. SRM-1-3774; Vinyl LP). Find many great new & used options and get the best deals for Hey World by Roadmaster (CD, Mar-2012, Rock Candy) at the best online prices at eBay! Free shipping for many products! None of the band's Mercury albums of the late '70s were big sellers, and it's safe to say that the vast majority of arena rock fans have never heard of Roadmaster. Recorded in Lake Geneva, WI, in early 1979, Hey, World mines the same slick, ultra-commercial arena rock/pop-rock waters as Styx. Roadmaster was an American rock band from Indianapolis, Indiana, that was popular in the Midwest in the late 1970s and early 1980s. They recorded four albums for Village/Mercury Records. Members of the band played for several other successful rock acts with Midwestern roots from the ‘70s to the 1990s.
Showcasing frontman Stephen ‘Mac’ McNally’s unique vocals, together with a brace of supremely melodic tracks, Roadmaster’s third album “Hey World” is universally regarded as a high watermark of the initial days of the genre.
Indeed, it is a record that fuses supremely crafted melodic AOR with all the grandeur and magnificence of the greatest Pomp Rock bands of the era. Think Styx, Kansas, Trillion and Starcastle wrapped up into one glorious bundle of fun.

“Hey World” delivers all the lip smacking components of prime Pomp, with soaring lead vocals, multi-layered harmonies, breathtaking arrangements and an extraordinary keyboard component.
Touring with the likes of Ted Nugent, Blue Oyster Cult and Aerosmith, the “Hey World” album helped to consolidate Roadmaster reputation as one of the Mid-West’s hardest working and best loved bands.

“Hey World” it’s a record that continues to offer up surprises even to this day.
Roadmaster was ahead of their time with this release anticipating the sound developed by the likes of Journey or Styx two years after.
Excellent 24-bit remastering by Rock Candy (handled by Andy Pearce) from original source tapes, 3,500 word essay about the making of the album, band involvement and additional photos spread out over a 16 page full color booklet.
Highly Recommended
